Tina Giannopoulos

VIOLIN 2, PRINCIPAL

Tina holds a Performance degree from The University of Western Ontario where she studied with Dr. Robert Skelton and Lorand Fenyves. During her time at Western, she enjoyed many orchestral and chamber music opportunities. She performed with the University of Western Ontario symphony, the Northern Sinfonia (now the North Bay Symphony), and the Jamaican Philharmonic Orchestra where she travelled with a quintet to perform chamber and orchestral music as well as to bring music education to schools in the country.

As a retired educator of 31 years, Tina has taught music at a number of schools in the Waterloo Region District School Board, including MacGregor Senior P.S. where she had over 500 students learning to play violin, viola, cello, and bass. She also maintains a small private music studio in her home.

Tina lives in Waterloo and performs throughout Southwestern Ontario in a number of orchestral groups including the KW Chamber Orchestra, the Stratford Symphony Orchestra, and the Waterloo Chamber Players, where she is concertmaster. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her three grandsons and three “granddogs”.
