2019 / 2020 CONCERT SERIES

The Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra is comprised of a core of professional musicians, semi-professionals from our community, and highly-skilled music students. Together, we share a love of music and a commitment to excellence in performance.

All of our concerts take place in the beautiful sanctuary of Knox Presbyterian Church, 50 Erb Street West, Waterloo. The facilities are fully wheelchair accessible with lots of free parking. Click Here for a map.

Tickets are available in advance at Words Worth Books in Waterloo, cash only at the door, or online from Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors (60+), full time students (including post-secondary) are $5, and children under 10 are free.

We open our 35th anniversary season with a world premiere featuring virtuoso Guy Few performing Concerto for Trumpet & Piano by local renowned composer Boyd McDonald. Also on this program is Symphony#1 by Mendelssohn and works by Archer & Glazunov.

Our annual silent auction concert will feature J.S. Bach’s miniature comedic opera The Coffee Cantata, with soloists Gordon Burnett, Elizabeth Lepock, and Steven Surian. The beautiful Serenade for Strings by Elgar and Janacek’s Suite for String Orchestra will also be performed. This concert will include an extended intermission for silent auction bids and coffee drinking!

We are thrilled to welcome back the Contemporary School of Dance to perform our rendition of the Mother Goose Suite by Ravel. To offer a second course of French repertoire, the orchestra will also perform Ravel’s beautiful Tombeau de Couperin. Rounding off the program is Symphony #3 by Schubert.

Our 30th annual Concerto Competition will be held this season (open to all full time students), and we look forward to performing with the winners. We will add some Schumann to this concert, but most of the concert will be a delightful surprise!

Our season will close with Jung Tsai, Associate Concertmaster of the KWS, joining us to perform Violin Concerto#5 by Mozart. We look forward to performing Pavane by Faure and Pastorale by Honegger as well as works by Bloomfield and Purcell.
