DYLAN MURPHY
CELLO
Dylan joined the Kitchener Waterloo Chamber Orchestra in 2018. He has completed a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he studied with Katie Schlaikjer, Paul Pulford, and the Penderecki String Quartet. In 2021, Dylan completed a Graduate Certificate in Sport and Event Marketing from Fanshawe College, and he recently began his career as an Events Coordinator for a non-profit organization in London.
While at Laurier, Dylan served as Principal Cellist of the Laurier Symphony Orchestra, and he was Principal Cellist of the Laurier Opera Orchestra for two consecutive seasons. In 2019, Dylan was a co-recipient of the prestigious Penderecki String Quartet Prize alongside his colleagues in the Meraki String Quartet. Dylan has played in masterclasses for cellists Colin Carr, Rachel Mercer, Yegor Dyachkov, Paul Marleyn, Leanne Zacharias, and Pamela Highbaugh-Aloni. He has also worked with notable artists including Vernon Regehr, Leo Erice, Angela Park, Yehonatan Berick, and the Lafayette String Quartet. In his spare time, Dylan loves to stay on top of new film releases, and he enjoys swimming, tennis and golf.
