Debra Lacoste
Trumpet, Principal
Debra Lacoste (Principal Trumpet) performs locally with the Full House Brass quintet and as a freelance trumpet soloist. She is Director and Founder of the community service choir Fireside Voices, and operates a private teaching studio. She has taught music history and trumpet studio at local universities and manages CANTUS: a Database for Latin Ecclesiastical Chant, housed at the University of Waterloo and operating in partnership with Dalhousie University in Halifax. Chant research has taken her all over the world: most recently to Prague in early March 2020, but also in the last decade to Vienna, Brussels, Sydney, Tokyo, Dublin, Venice, Sweden, the US and across Canada. She is also the Director and General Editor of The Institute of Mediaeval Music, a publishing company for academic books. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master of Arts and PhD in musicology from Western University, and an ARCT in Trumpet Performance.
